Alejandro & Diego

So it ended well for Ale and Diego. I am really glad that Diego finally came to his senses and accepted his homosexuality. I am even more elated that he chose to be with Ale. Too bad it took him 5 years to come to this decision.

I was rather disappointed with the finale for Ale & Diego. There are many reasons for me saying this. Here goes:

1. The so-called party was held for Alejandro who was heading off to Spain but, it did not look like it was. Ale was merely on the sidelines and had only one measly line. Even Mauricio’s car navigation system had more screen time and function than Ale!

2. No kiss (but then again, RP was known for it’s “hugs only for gays, passionate unbridled sex for straights” ruling). And not even a hug!

3. Diego’s coming out was in the presence of the two other people (Sebas & Nora) who already knew. I was hoping he would announce it to everyone at the party. I would have loved to see the reaction from their ex-schoolmates.

4. We never got to see Diego tell his father to go screw himself with his homophobia. I thought that a scene in which Diego holds Ale’s hand and tells his dad “You’ve met my partner Ale, haven’t you?” would have been a perfect full-stop to Hector’s tyranny over the years.

5. While Diego looked smoking hot with his new look, the stylists could have put in a little more effort for Ale. That trail of hair from his lower lip to his chin didn’t work at all for me.

As much as I love RP for introducing Ale & Diego / Kevin & Jonathan to me, there were flaws and missing links in Ale & Diego’s storyline. It could have been told differently and without prejudice.
